Yoga Classes

I’m dedicated to promoting wellness, mindfulness  and work-life balance throughout the Bow Valley and online. From hospitality teams and local drop-ins to private classes with those visiting us, I'm eager to share yogic principles and practices that can help us create a more balanced lifestyle.

My Yoga Journey

Like many others in the western world, when I was first introduced to yoga in early adulthood I thought I had to be flexible to be able to practice. I also was deep in a cycle of numbing through substance and alcohol abuse, and keeping myself busy with work, socializing, and anything else that would act as a distraction. Yoga asks us to be with ourselves FULLY, and to do that was deeply uncomfortable at the time.

I was actively trying to avoid being alone with my thoughts and body, so I almost instantly dismissed yoga entirely.

Fast forward to 2019; a few months after committing to sobriety.

I had more time on my hands than ever before, and the strain of workaholism and alcoholism had taken a toll on my physical health.

I found yoga again, but this time under a different premise. My intention this time around was to begin my healing journey and begin to get comfortable being alone with my thoughts, spirit, and body.

Although the journey there was indeed uncomfortable, I was prepared for it. I knew that this discomfort was different than the discomfort that came after a night of blacking out. I had chosen this discomfort, and there was a sense of peace in that.

Seeing first-hand how yoga transformed my ability to see myself, trust myself and do hard things, I knew I wanted to share it with others on a similar journey. In 2022 I enrolled in Canmore Counselling’s 200hr trauma informed yoga teacher training, and began sharing yoga, meditation and breathwork with my online clients. In 2024 I began leading yoga classes aimed to help hospitality teams find balance in the chaos and fast-paced environment with my colleagues at The Grizzly Paw.

Today I'm focused on sharing yoga and mindfulness throughout Canmore and online; making yoga accessible to those that need it most.

"It was such a nice change to use a work space I'm always in for a period of relaxation. Alyssa's class was a slow, deep stretch that left me feeling calm, loose, and grounded for the rest of the day.
